Zara McFarlane
Zara McFarlane is a multi-award-winning vocalist and songwriter from London, UK. She studied Musical Theatre at the prestigious BRIT School of Performing Arts, has a degree in Popular Music Performance and a Masters degree in Jazz Studies from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has recently been awarded a Fellowship from the GSMD.
To date, Zara continues to record and perform and is known for her unique sound melding influences from Jazz, Reggae, Folk and Nu-Soul. In 2011 she was signed to BBC Radio 1 DJ Gilles Peterson’s record label, Brownswood Recordings and has since released 5 albums of original material worldwide to great acclaim. She has travelled the world performing across the UK, Europe, USA, and Japan with her band as well as performing as a featured vocalist alongside the likes of Gregory Porter, Nicola Conte, Hugh Masekela, and Ezra Collective to name a few. Zara has also worked within theatre with Royal Shakespeare Company and at the famous Opera house Glyndebourne.
She is passionate about sharing her knowledge of singing and has worked as a music educator and vocal coach at music conservatories globally. In addition, she has her own company called Singtivate where as a vocal coach she teaches privately and within businesses teaching the art of singing and performance techniques for professional development, self-confidence and well-being
